SLART’s Weekly art practice 43.
Author’s Note: Every Saturday, I share my art practice over the past 7 days. I’m fascinated by artistic practice – it’s not just about creating art but the entire process. From influences and ideas to materials and skills, each artist’s unique approach shapes their work, making it more than a finished piece. Just imagine having a weekly update from your favourite living artist. How cool would that be?
If this piece is too long for email, you can read it here in Substack. Or download the app.
Apologies for not having a weekly art practice last week, I had a horrid hand, foot and mouth virus. I am not quite 100% but a lot better than last week.
Memento vivere at the Crypt Gallery progress report
I’ve started writing out my goal every morning in a physical journal. It’s such a simple thing to do, but I figured that it’s a simple reminder of what I’m trying to achieve.
It’s almost too simple to be effective, but what it does is focus my mind onto my goal every day so I don’t forget about where I’m headed.
I’ve taken small steps in my video ads for the exhibition and I’ll work more on this next week. I want to ‘drip feed’ the exhibition over the next 10 months so people will feel familiar with what I’m creating and want to come!
In other news…
I sold another Hitchcock Print!
Maybe I need to start believing in myself and sell some more eh?
Would you like to buy one from eBay?
I started a new painting in my studio
With all of this planning and not actually painting for so long, I didn’t realise how much I missed it. The rawness of sitting down, dipping a paintbrush into acrylic paint and putting it on canvas, it’s heavenly and I’ve fucking missed it! A lot. Nothing to show you today but I’m painting an expression of my brother who died in December 2023. I don’t wish to share any more for now.
Getting ready for Art3F in Brussels
Wrapping, packing and posting paintings is A LOT! I always think it’ll be a speedy affair but wrapping itself takes 3 times longer than you’d think and then finding a decent service to actually ship the parcels is another thing altogether. I went to Evri today and they said the parcel was too big, so I’m having to post via Royal Mail tomorrow. I sound like I’m moaning, I am a little but it’s in jest too.
I’ve decided that I am going to sell both of my paintings at the Art3F show even though I won’t be there, THEY WILL SELL! Maria will sell them for me, I can feel it in my bones!
These two paintings will sell!
I would be there in person but I’m not allowed the 22nd November off work. The show is 22-24th Nov and I intended to go with my family for a Brussels mini break for the Friday and Saturday night, but that’s no longer happening.
In the words of Artist, Merny…
Best wishes and deep blessings,
Have the best week!
