LIFE OF A SAMURAI (2019) – 42 x 29.7 CM – WATERCOLOUR BRUSH PENS ON PAP
Miyamoto Musashi (1584-1645) is considered perhaps the greatest swordsman who ever lived.
Every duel as a Samurai during that period was a literal matter of life or death.
The inspiration for this piece came from photos of the location where Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro dueled, Ganryu-jima—a small, deserted island off the coast of Shimonoseki City in Southeastern Japan.
