Bruno 1-8 (2019) – 21 cm x 14.8 cm – Pen and ink on paper
I was inspired to use pen and ink, which reminded me of my days as a nine-year-old drawing in primary school. I created a piece of artwork featuring a Victorian man riding a penny farthing bicycle, which someone purchased at a small exhibition we held. Notably, the buyer wasn’t one of my parents!
My mentor, Rory Walker, encouraged me to have fun with these drawings and to experiment with various styles. Following his advice led to “Bruno 2,” my favourite piece. The reference for it was a photo of Bruno peeking from behind my laptop while I was trying to work, vying for my attention. He’s so bloody adorable!
