DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO (2023) – 85 CM x 100 CM – ACRYLIC PAINTING ON CANVAS
“Don’t Tell Me What to Do” is a piece that reflects my frustration and defiance. Inspired by Devo, I created the puppet-like figure at the center to symbolise how I often feel trapped by societal expectations and external control.
This artwork also echoes my struggle of being stuck in a day job while striving to build my art career—a conflict between the need for stability and my drive for creative freedom. It is my declaration of independence, a refusal to be controlled, and a commitment to pursuing my true passion.
