New here? What’s this Weekly Art Practice all about?
Well, let me tell you… Every Saturday, I share my art practice over the past 7 days. I’m fascinated by artistic practice – it’s not just about creating art but the entire process. From influences and ideas to materials and skills, each artist’s unique approach shapes their work, making it more than a finished piece. Just imagine having a weekly update from your favourite living artist. How cool would that be?
If this masterpiece is too long for email, you can read it here in Substack. Or download the app.
SLART ZINE – COMING IN 2025
I said in my last post…
Dear , you inspired me to create my own Zine. What it’ll contain I do not know as yet, but you’ll be first to know! is also a big Zine creator don’t you know?
My art zine came all the way from Toronto, created by , today. I’m going to savour it over a nice cuppa and tell you all about it next week! (Tease, I know!).
Insight of the week 💡
There’s a profound benefit to slowing down, yet in our fast-paced lives, we often resist it. We’re all so busy, constantly juggling responsibilities and racing to meet expectations, that the mere thought of pausing can feel uncomfortable, even indulgent. But sitting still—doing nothing—has value.
By allowing yourself to enter a meditative state, you open the door to new insights, perspectives, and clarity that the rush of daily life obscures. It’s in these moments of stillness that creativity blooms and solutions appear. We need to remind ourselves that slowing down isn’t laziness; it’s essential.
Perhaps I need this reminder tattooed on my forehead, because it’s so easy to forget—but slowing down can sometimes be the most productive thing you’ll ever do.
A rejection letter from Portland
I have no strong feelings about it; it simply shows that I’ll keep applying for things, and there will be plenty of rejections.
This week, I didn’t sell my soul
No bidders this week, but something cool happened from last week’s Soul Winner.
I got this message in eBay before his soul arrived in the post:
So he picked three from my website, I created a new listing and the sale was made. I am over the moon! I thanked him for bidding on my soul and he replied…
I decided to go the extra mile and send him double-sided prints with the artwork description on the back. Like so:
No one will see it when it’s hung on the wall but it’s there!
I also sent him a printed booklet version of a Substack post 🙂
One more thing on this section, I’ve got bids on 2 souls selling, so I’ll update you next week! I’ve put the big price down and the postage price up as to cover my costs now!
Memento vivere at the Crypt Gallery progress report
Nothing to report, just chilling until the new year and we’ll start moving slowly again.
I’ve added more art to Etsy and now eBay
“Isn’t eBay too lowbrow for your fine fine fine art, SLART?” In short “No”. Who am I to think otherwise? I say it tongue-in-cheek but I thought one had to sell art through posh galleries. The way I see it now, if it sells somewhere, then it sells! Selling 3 Art prints on eBay recently and also 3 souls has shown that.
And the new eBay store:

That’s all for now.
Do the thing and you will have the power.
Best wishes and deep blessings,
SLART.
Oh, remember to read my last post below if you missed it.
