Weekly Art Practice #11: Allowing Creative Renewal and exploring Malaga’s Art Scene
Every Saturday I share my art practice over the past 7 days. I’m fascinated by artistic practice – it’s not just about creating art but the entire process. From influences and ideas to materials and skills, each artist’s unique approach shapes their work, making it more than just a finished piece.
Thank you,
Thank you so much for joining me in my art practice this week.
My wife, daughter and I are on holiday in Spain this week for some much needed rest. As you know, I’ve not been too well, but I’m doing great now. The Mediterranean sun is helping.
The hotel we’re staying in is lovely, it’s nice to see some local artist’s art on the walls.
The orange a grey curves reminds me of the abstracts I’ve been creating of late.
Thomas Cozâr created this piece. I assume it’s this T Cozâr as the signature looks the same. https://www.mutualart.com/Artist/Tomas-Cozar/E654D732F15FFA78
E. Boste created the blue and yellow pastely pieces as seen above. I can’t find their info, so if you can, post the info in the comments.
This week I’ve enjoyed a much needed trip to Malaga’s Picasso Museum. Did you know he was born there and spent the first 10 years of his life there?
Here’s a few of his works that stood out to me. The top-left piece was an early piece, showcasing his technical painting proficiency. My favourite was the top-right piece painted on wood.
They had a Basquiat and a Guston piece in the museum.
Upstairs they had a room full of other artists. Many were Cubist-inspired.
A few other photos of things that inspired me in Malaga.
We went to the MacArthur Glen Shopping Outlet, they also have a Shopping Mall in my hometown in Swindon.
It was good to see English Artist, Nic Fiddian-Green’s sculpture here.
I got a message from Marcus, the curator at Baristocats Cafe in Swindon, he’s put my art up on their display wall. What do you think? I think the card mounts work very well.
I got a reply from the publicist I emailed a week or so ago, she has no space for clients but we’re having a chat about consulting in a couple of weeks.
I’ll keep you posted on this.
Overall it’s been a relaxing week. Rest, family time, eating good food, siestas, exploring and daydreaming.
My favourite complimentary colour combo, Orange and blue in my day-to-day life this week:
Beautiful tile combos in Malaga.
Thank you for joining me in my art practice for this week.
