The Karate Kid was also one of my all-time favourite childhood films. I related deeply to Daniel LaRusso as the underdog. Like Daniel, I took up karate as a child, and as an shy, overweight kid, I often felt helpless.
I vividly remember going to karate classes with my older brother, Gary. Unfortunately, the sensei was a bully who would often punch small kids in the stomach. Luckily, I had some belly fat, so it didn’t hurt as much.
Just like Short Circuit 2, The Karate Kid also had a fantastic soundtrack that added to its magic and impact on me.
